Graduated in clarinet, he also studied saxophone, electronic music, composition and arrangement.

Instrumentalist and composer since 1980, his interests widely cover all kind of music; he performed with a lot of groups of rock, funky, jazz, classical and folk music, and composes chamber music, electro-acoustical, brass band, music for theater, dance and videos, and didactical music.

Since more than 20 years he's member of Carlo Actis Dato Quartet, world known as one of the most original and funny group of new italian jazz;
with him he plays also in the Atipico Trio and Actis Furioso.
As well he plays in duo, trio and quartet with the song writer Gianmaria Testa (for who he arranged the first album Montgolfiéres - Label Bleu and the last one, Altre Latitudini - Harmonia Mundi) and toured in Europe (Roma, Parigi, Madrid, Barcellona, Vienna, Berlino, Amburgo, Amsterdam, etc..) Canada e USA (NY, Chicago, LA).
Co-founder of the music cabaret band I Trelilu.
He leads his own sextet Ponzo & Colleagues (Roberto Taufic, Filippo Gambetta, Federico Marchesano, Gilson Silveira, Riccardo Serra).
With acoustic and electric bass virtuoso Federico Marchesano creates the Electrifié Duo and the Loop Killer Trio, together with french drummer Eríc Groleau.

Also he performed with: Gianluigi Trovesi, Mitteleuropa Orchestra di Andrea Centazzo, Pino Minafra, Tiziano Tononi Big Band, Serghei Letov, Vassilly Gayvoronsky, Eugenio Colombo, Rino Vernizzi, Elena Roggero, Pino Enriquez, Caesar Stroscio, Riccardo Tesi, and collaborated with actors, mimes, painters and writers.

He participates to the music show Guarda che luna together with Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Banda Osiris, Gianmaria Testa, Enzo Pietropaoli (Turin, Milano, Rome, Bologna, Umbria Jazz 02, etc.)

He was arranger and producer in pop music, together with Emanuele Ruffinengo.
Arranger and director for the last record of Philippe Val (music publisher Harmonia Mundi / Le Chant du Monde).

He participated to more than forty albums, and was guest in most prestigious festivals, clubs and radio/tv emissions in Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Nederland, Finland, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Martinique, Canada, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Japan, Australia New Zealand and United States.
